An Australian boulder opal alive with rolling waves of blue — turquoise, cobalt, and azure shifting across the surface like light moving through water. Boulder opals form deep in the Australian outback, where silica seeps into ancient ironstone over millions of years and crystallizes into pure play-of-color. Each stone hand-selected for its motion. The metal echoes the stone's rhythm, sculpted by hand into undulating forms that rise and fall around the opal — two interpretations of the same elemental force. One born deep in the earth, the other shaped by human hand. A ring for those drawn to the ocean's perpetual energy, to beauty that refuses to stay still.
There are two metal choices:
• All Gold: Solid 14k yellow gold.
• Silver + Gold: Solid sterling silver band and stone seat. Solid fine silver bezel. Solid 14k yellow gold detail between the band and the bezel.
Each Australian boulder opal is naturally unique in cut and appearance. The stone used for your piece will be similar to the one pictured above. If you would like to choose the exact stone to be used for your piece, please contact the studio.
The precious opal is known for its “play of color” — a unique shifting display of iridescent hues — and its name is derived from the Latin word opalus, which comes from the Ancient Greek word opállios, meaning “to see a change of color.” It is believed to symbolize hope, purity, confidence, creativity, and inspiration.
Opal is one of the birthstones for October and marks the 14th anniversary.
